چکیده

Shelton, Damon C. (West Virginia University Medical Center, Morgantown), and William E. Nutter. Uptake of valine and glycylvaline by Leuconostoc mesenteroides. J. Bacteriol. 88:1175-1184. 1964.-Uptake systems for valine and glycylvaline were studied in growing cultures and non-growing cellular suspensions of Leuconostoc mesenteroides. Glycylvaline promoted growth more rapidly than did valine. Other dipeptides were shown to be antagonistic to the utilization of glycylvaline by the organism. The experiments with cellular suspensions were done with the use of combinations of labeled and unlabeled amino acids and peptides. Results showed that different uptake systems were present in L. mesenteroides for the uptake of valine and glycylvaline. Both systems were energy-dependent and readily saturated. The synthesis, purification, and chromatographic identification of glycyl-dl-valine-1-C(14) is described.

Branched-Chain Amino Acid Transport in Cytoplasmic Membranes of Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. dextranicum CNRZ 1273.

Membrane vesicles of Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. dextranicum fused with proteoliposomes prepared from Escherichia coli phospholipids containing beef heart cytochrome c oxidase were used to study the transport of branched-chain amino acids in a strain isolated from a raw milk cheese. At a medium pH of 6.0, oxidation of an electron donor system comprising ascorbate, N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-p-p...

Media for Leuconostoc mesenteroides P-60 and Leuconostoc citrovorum 8081.

In the routine use of typical media for the microbiological determination of the sixteen amino acids standard curves have accumulated which reveal the amounts of each amino acid required for the growth of the assay organism when all other amino acids are present in excess. Thus it was observed that the relative amounts of the various amino acids needed by Leuconostoc mesenteroides P-60 did not ...

Investigations of amino acids, peptides, and proteins; the determination of phenylalanine in protein hydrolysates with Leuconostoc mesenteroides P-60 and Lactobacillus casei.

During the past 2 years microbiological procedures’ have been reported for the determination in proteins of thirteen of the twenty-one amino acids which occur in protein materials. Seven amino acids (isoleucine, glutamic acid, methionine, leucine, phenylalanine, tryptophane, and valine) have been determined with Lactobacillus arabinosus 17-5, three (arginine, tyrosine, and valine) with Lactobac...

Characterization of the Dextran Produced by Leuconostoc mesenteroides from Date Fruit Extract

In the present study, the production of dextran from date extract and sucrose as carbon sources by the bacterium Leuconostoc mesenteroides NRRL B512 (f) was investigated. In comparison to blue dextran (Mw≈2000 Da), dextran molecular weight was reduced (Mw2000 KDa). Flow behavior indices of dextran solutions from date extracts were investigated and rheological parameters were evaluated at concen...

Leuconostoc mesenteroides is a heterofermentative Grampositive bacterium that plays key roles in fermentation of foods such as kimchi, sauerkraut, and milk, leading to the production of various organic acids and aromatic compounds. To study the microbiological and genomic characteristics of L. mesenteroides, we have developed a new chemically defined minimal medium by using the single omission ...
